thanks to the “goods-to-person” principle there is a clear reduction in the distance covered by personnel. this generally cuts the travel time (= the biggest part of picking time) from around 65% to around 10%. it also allows for fast and accurate access to the stored goods to avoid unproductive search times. with software-supported picking strategies, e.g. batch picking, the picking performance can be improved even further.
