recently, cooec brazil fpso (floating production storage and offloading unit) p67/p70 project p70 hull has been successfully towed to qingdao site wharf from cosco shanghai changxing shipyard which is approximately 394 knots away.
the p70 hull was solely towed by one 16,000 kw “deshen” ocean tug over the east china sea and the yellow sea. during towing, the employees on board are responsible for examining the towing system and the p70 hull ballasting conditions regularly and conducting a real-time monitoring on the weather condition, thus ensuring safe arrival of p70 hull in qingdao.
fpso p67 will be ready for delivering to brazil at cooec qingdao site recently. the berthing of fpso p70 at qingdao site wharf (namely, berthing of two 300,000 tons fpsos at the qingdao site wharf for the first time) has made it a landmark to demonstrate the epc capability of cooec to undertake large fpsos.
the fpso p70 is owned by petroleo brasileiro sa. in may of 2015, cooec undertook the subsequent detailed design, procurement, the construction and shipment of some modules, as well as the integration, commissioning, towing and delivery of the whole vessel for the p70 & p67 fpsos (300,000 tons). the fpso p70 is the second of the two world-class fpsos in the project undertaken by cooec.
the p70 hull was constructed by cosco shanghai, with a total length of 316 m and total width of 74 m. the light weight is approximately 53,000 tons and the full load displacement is five times the “liaoning” aircraft carrier. after arriving in cooec qingdao site, the remaining works of the hull and the integration, hook- up and commissioning of the whole vessel will be completed at such site.
